Jop van der Kraan

Jop has worked as a lawyer in The Netherlands and as a foreign lawyer in Singapore. He has over ten years of experience in advising mainly international clients and representing them in litigation and international arbitration.

Jop specialises in complex contractual and corporate disputes. He assisted clients in a broad variety of disputes, such as disputes related to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial contracts, shareholders, directors and insolvency. Jop has significant experience in the energy, infrastructure and food and beverage sector.

Before joining Ysquare, Jop was working as a Managing Associate in the international litigation and arbitration practice of Linklaters.

Jop is an editor at Maandblad voor Ondernemingsrecht, an academic magazine on corporate law, has (guest) lectured at several universities and regularly published on corporate and commercial law related matters.

Jop holds two masters and obtained his PhD in 2020. His research focuses on the liability of holding companies within group structures using the group exemption of article 2:403 DCC. This research includes an extensive study of (parent) guarantees, joint and several liability and the position of creditors.
