Sander Rijsterborgh

Sander has ample experience in commercial litigation. Before joining Ysquare, Sander worked at the Court of Appeal in The Hague, where he gained valuable experience by fulfilling the position of registrar, by participating in counsel meetings between appeal judges and by preparing over sixty drafts for judgments in both ordinary and summary civil proceedings. Sander started his career as a lawyer in the commercial litigation department of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek where he worked for almost six years. In that period he was seconded to Shell’s Global litigation department.

Sander is an expert on private law and regularly publishes and teaches in this field. Sander is also an editorial member of the Dutch law journal on contract law.

  • Defending a large tech corporation in a EUR 10 billion GDPR class action law suit under the Dutch regime for collective redress WAMCA (Act on the Resolution of Mass Claims in Collective Action).
  • Advising and representing a major Dutch gas company in mass claims regarding damage from earthquakes.
  • Defending a Dutch insurance company in a wide range of litigation matters regarding consumer products.
  • Advising and representing a big Dutch bank in cases regarding its portfolio of interest derivatives sold to small and medium sized enterprises.
