Attorney-at-law

Bregje Korthals Altes

Bregje is a practical, hands-on, arbitration and litigation specialist with two decades of experience focusing on commercial disputes at the highest level. She thrives on helping clients navigating through high-stake disputes, where there are important interests at stake, whether legal, reputational, commercial and/or financial. She has served as lead counsel and arbitrator in high profile commercial and construction arbitrations, under the ICC, UNCITRAL, NAI, CAM, and other arbitration rules. Recognized in the "Who's Who" in the field of international arbitration for many years, her experience spans a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, mining and minerals, civil engineering, aviation, IT and health tech. Common theme in all her cases is that they all require a thorough understanding – often highly complex – technical issues, in addition to a full command of the facts and legal theories. Based on her interest in the specific dynamics in public-private relationships, Bregje has also gained broad experience in European Procurement Law and in the intense environment of public and parliamentary inquiries.

Before joining Ysquare in 2020, Bregje was partner in the litigation and arbitration group of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek for many years. She was seconded to Schiphol National Airport and to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague. Since 2018 she is a member of the board of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute.
